Thank you for your interest in the JLP!

We are a non-profit organization operated by our all-women volunteer membership. Since 1912, we have proudly served the Philadelphia community and our members. The impact of JLP volunteer efforts in the community is widespread and diverse.

Benefits of joining the Junior League

Meet other women committed to serving our communities. The JLP has over 900 members with a diverse array of backgrounds, interests, and professions. We are also part of a powerful network of 292 Junior Leagues with over 150,000 members in four countries.

Make an impact in the Greater Philadelphia area community. The JLP partners with dozens of nonprofits and charities to support local events and fundraisers. We contribute more than 75,000 hours of service worth an estimated $1.5 million annually.

Sharpen your skill set. Members have access to a variety of free leadership and development opportunities throughout the year.

Build lasting relationships. Make new friends while volunteering, attending fundraising events, and participating on committees.

Eligibility

The Junior League welcomes all women who value our Mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations, and communities.

No membership sponsor is required to join the JLP – just an interest in volunteer service and dedication to our mission and community focus!

Any woman 19 years or older residing in Philadelphia County, PA; Delaware County, PA; Bucks County, PA; Montgomery County, PA; Chester County, PA; Camden County, NJ; Burlington County, NJ; or Gloucester County, NJ who meets these criteria and agrees to fulfill the commitments is warmly welcomed.

New Member Commitments

In their first year, New Members will take part in the New Member Program, which provides training to prepare for effective community and League involvement. Upon completion of the New Member Program and fulfillment of all requirements, New Members will be admitted to Active membership.

New Members pay Membership Dues of $210 and attend General Membership and monthly New Member meetings, participate in community volunteer efforts and training sessions, volunteer in the Junior League of Philadelphia Thrift Shop, attend social events, and participate in fundraising initiatives for the League.

The New Member Program runs from September through April.  During the New Member Program, New Members are organized into small groups led by a New Member Advisor.  The New Member Program allows New Members the opportunity to become engaged in the League’s service to the community while also learning about the organization itself. In April, those New Members who have successfully completed all requirements are invited to join the League as Active Members.

Enrollment Process

Enrollment for new members is open annually between May and September.  The enrollment period for the 2010-2020 League year is closed. If you are interested in joining and would like information on the 2020 summer recruiting season, please email us at Join@jlphiladelphia.org.
